OPEN LETTER: National Security Experts Speak Out: 9/11 Commission Falls Short

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:26 am

Date: September 13, 2004

To The Congress of The United States:

The National Commission on Terrorist Attacks upon the United States ended its report stating that “We look forward to a national debate on the merits of what we have recommended, and we will participate vigorously in that debate.” In this spirit, we the undersigned wish to bring to the attention of the Congress and the people of the United States what we believe are serious shortcomings in the report and its recommendations. We thus call upon Congress to refrain from narrow political considerations and to apply brakes to the race to implement the commission recommendations. It is not too late for Congress to break with the practice of limiting testimony to that from politicians and top-layer career bureaucrats—many with personal reputations to defend and institutional equities to protect. Instead, use this unique opportunity to introduce salutary reform, an opportunity that must not be squandered by politically driven haste.

CROSSING THE RUBICON

The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil

Michael C. Ruppert

The Rubicon signifies a point of no return. Peak Oil and 9/11 are two such points that signal so profound a change in the course of world events that no one will remain unaffected.

Crossing the Rubicon: 9/11 and the Decline of American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil by Michael C. Ruppert is a detective story that gets to the innermost core of the 9/11 attacks. It places 9/11 at the center of a desperate new America, created by specific, named individuals in preparation for Peak Oil: an economic crisis like nothing the world has ever seen. A crucial book to read before the US elections in November, it will be available mid-September. [For advance praise and details of investigative findings click to read more]

The failure of our protective intelligence

That’s not all, folks

9/12/04 — Reviewed by LIN ROLENS – Santa Barbara News Press

This country is as divided and distrustful as perhaps no time since the Civil War. The destruction of the World Trade Center and its aftermath momentarily pulled us together, and then suspicion and anger set in. After much denial, discussion and manipulation, the current administration acceded to the establishment of the 9/11 Commission to tell us why and how that disaster happened, but investigative journalist Peter Lance has spent three years researching the roots of the 9/11 tragedy and dogging the heels of those responsible and in command.

New York Daily News — Saturday, September 11th, 2004

Each year on the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, family members journey down to bedrock to stand on the footprints of the twin towers, the final resting place of many of those killed during the first battle of the War on Terror. If the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. and Port Authority have their way, today’s anniversary ceremony will be the last to include that journey.

The experience of standing on these historic footprints is profound – an experience all Americans should be able to share, now and in the future.

Any memorial that does not provide maximum access to the tangible remains of the footprints will fail to make an authentic connection to those who died on that day that changed America.

GOP politicizes 9/11 for its gain, McKinney says

By DAVID HO

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Published on: 09/09/04

NEW YORK — Former Georgia congresswoman Cynthia McKinney accused Republicans on Thursday of exploiting the memory of Sept. 11, 2001, for political gain and repeated her implication that truths about the attacks remain untold.

The DeKalb County Democrat, who is running to reclaim the 4th District congressional seat, was voted out two years ago after making controversial comments about the Sept. 11 attacks during a radio interview. She implied that the Bush administration had known the attacks were coming but did nothing to prevent them.

On Thursday, she chaired a hearing staged by activist groups and researchers who say the government has covered up information related to the hijackings.

“No organization, no administration, no forces, no powers that be are going to crush the truth of what happened on Sept. 11 to the ground,” she vowed.
